Why I Wish I Knew This Sooner: How Your Cycle Affects Your Wedding Glow

I'll never forget the moment I realized why some weeks I felt like a superhero radiant, energetic, ready to conquer the world while other weeks left me exhausted, emotional, and counting down to bedtime. My menstrual cycle was calling the shots, and I hadn't even noticed!

Now, as both a bridal artist and a mom, I'm learning to work with my body instead of against it. And you know what? It's been life-changing.

My "Aha!" Moment

Last year, I scheduled back-to-back bridal trials during what turned out to be my PMS week. By the third bride, I was fighting tears of exhaustion not because of the work, but because my body was screaming for rest. That's when it clicked: if I was struggling this much as the artist, imagine how brides feel on their actual wedding day!

What I've Learned About Cycles and Bridal Beauty

phases o f a woman;s cycle

1. Your Skin Changes Throughout the Month

- Good weeks: After your period (follicular phase), skin tends to be clearer and more glowing—perfect for wedding makeup!

- Challenging weeks: Before your period (luteal phase), you might deal with breakouts or puffiness.

2. Energy Matters More Than You Think

- Mid cycle energy peaks are ideal for long wedding days.

- PMS weeks might make you feel less patient with hair trials or makeup applications.

3. Hair Has Its Own Cycle Too

- Many women notice their hair looks fuller and shinier around ovulation.

What This Means for Brides (And All of Us)

If you're planning a wedding (or any big event):

- Track your cycle for a few months before choosing a date. I tracked mine with the “Clue” app

- Schedule trials and beauty treatments during your "good skin" weeks.

- Be kind to yourself—if your date lands on a tough week, plan extra skincare and rest.

Why This Matters to Me

As I learn more about this, I'm realizing how powerful it is to understand our bodies better. I want my daughter to grow up with this knowledge—not just for wedding planning, but for life.

And for my brides? I want to help you feel your absolute best, in every way possible.

Have you ever noticed how your cycle affects your skin or energy? I'd love to hear your experiences!
